March is one of the nicest times of the year. Spring is in the air, warmer temperatures, flowers are blossoming and oh yes, Basketball. March madness is a time where people absolutely go crazy, sports fan or not. I have never seen so many people predicting the outcome of a game than when it comes to NCAA college basketball tournament in March.
Like I said, it is a great time of the year, but not so much for Employers. It would be nice to say employees in the office pool fill out their brackets after work or talk about the games on their lunch break, but I don’t think that’s the case. It is estimated that there will be close to $134 billion in lost wages due to the games according to Global outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc. I’m sure employers may be thinking March might be a good time of the year to limit their employees internet access as well.
